Autism Support at Therapy Care — Across NSW

Children with autism spectrum disorder often experience differences in how they process sensory information and develop fine motor skills. At Therapy Care in Across, our occupational therapists work with these areas to support your child's everyday functioning and participation. Sensory processing support helps children manage responses to sounds, textures, movement, and light through tailored activities. For example, we might use sensory swings or weighted equipment to help regulate nervous system responses, or introduce graded exposure to different textures during play-based activities. Fine motor intervention focuses on skills like pencil grip, scissor use, and hand coordination needed for writing, dressing, and self-care. Therapy Care incorporates fine motor exercises such as threading activities, play dough manipulation, and adaptive utensil practice into sessions. Our occupational therapists work collaboratively with families to embed these strategies into daily routines at home and school. Many families access our services through NDIS funding; while Therapy Care's registration status is being confirmed, we can discuss funding options including the 2025-26 NDIS pricing arrangements. An occupational therapist cannot diagnose autism or sensory processing differences—this requires medical assessment—but we can identify functional goals and support your child's participation across home, school, and community settings.
