About this dataset

Paediatric occupational therapy (OT) is a critical allied health service for Australian children with developmental delays, disabilities, and functional impairments. Access to timely assessment and intervention can significantly influence developmental outcomes. This dataset, published by OTWaitlist, provides a snapshot of paediatric OT service availability across Australia, including clinic locations, waitlist status, and service models. The data covers NDIS-registered providers and publicly listed clinics, enabling journalists, researchers, parents, and policymakers to understand service distribution and capacity. This resource is intended to inform public discussion about access equity and service gaps. Users should note that this dataset reflects publicly available information and may not capture all providers, particularly private practitioners without online listings. Data currency varies by provider; clinics that have not recently updated their public information may be represented inaccurately. This page is updated regularly but should not be used as a substitute for direct contact with service providers.

Methodology

Data is compiled from two primary sources: the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS QSC) registry of registered providers, and automated web scraping of publicly listed clinic websites using Firecrawl technology. The NDIS QSC registry provides verified information on NDIS-registered paediatric OT providers, including registration status and service locations. Public clinic websites are scraped to extract waitlist information, service descriptions, and contact details. All extracted data undergoes manual verification by OTWaitlist staff to confirm accuracy and remove duplicates. Data is updated monthly; however, the currency of individual clinic records depends on how frequently providers update their public listings. Limitations include: (1) the dataset captures only providers with public online presence or NDIS registration—sole practitioners and clinics without websites are not represented; (2) waitlist information reflects self-reported data and may be outdated if clinics do not regularly update their websites; (3) private practitioners not registered with the NDIS are excluded unless they maintain public listings; (4) service capacity and clinical outcomes are not measured. Users should verify information directly with providers before making referral or access decisions. This dataset is not exhaustive and should be used as an indicative resource rather than a complete directory.
