Children with ADHD often experience difficulties with attention regulation and sensory processing, which can impact their ability to focus, participate in daily activities, and manage their behaviour. CliniKids addresses these challenges through targeted sensory processing support, recognising that many children with attention difficulties benefit from sensory input that helps regulate their nervous system. Our occupational therapists work with children using evidence-based strategies such as weighted equipment activities to provide calming proprioceptive input, movement-based interventions like controlled swinging or trampolining to support vestibular regulation, and structured fine-motor tasks that build focus and concentration. These activities help children develop better self-regulation skills and improve their ability to sustain attention during learning and play. CliniKids can support families accessing NDIS funding (2025-26 pricing arrangements) to cover occupational therapy services for eligible children. It's important to note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose ADHD or sensory processing difficulties—diagnosis requires assessment by a medical professional—however, OT intervention can meaningfully support children who have been diagnosed by helping them develop coping strategies and improve functional participation at home, school, and in the community.
