Children with ADHD and attention difficulties often benefit from targeted occupational therapy that addresses underlying sensory and motor challenges. At EquipKids in Across, our occupational therapists work with sensory processing and fine motor skills—two areas that frequently impact focus and self-regulation. Sensory processing support might include activities like using a sensory swing or weighted lap pad to help calm an overactive nervous system, making it easier for your child to concentrate during schoolwork or social activities. Fine motor interventions, such as threading activities, scissor work, or handwriting exercises, build the hand strength and coordination needed for written tasks, reducing frustration and improving engagement. EquipKids can also help develop strategies for managing sensory sensitivities that might otherwise distract your child throughout the day. While occupational therapy cannot diagnose ADHD, these targeted approaches address the functional difficulties many children with attention challenges experience. Depending on your circumstances, services may be funded through the NDIS (2025-26 pricing arrangements apply), private health insurance, or out-of-pocket.
