Growing Kids Occupational Therapy supports children with autism spectrum disorder by addressing the sensory and functional challenges that often accompany the condition. Through our autism and sensory processing services, we help children develop skills for everyday activities and manage sensory sensitivities that may affect their participation at home, school, and in the community.

Our occupational therapists work with each child's unique profile to create tailored interventions. For children who experience sensory sensitivities, we might use activities like controlled exposure to different textures, weighted equipment work to improve body awareness, or movement-based activities using sensory swings to help regulate their nervous system. For children developing fine motor skills, we incorporate play-based exercises such as threading, scissor work, and handwriting preparation activities that build confidence and independence.

Growing Kids Occupational Therapy also supports children in developing self-care routines, social participation strategies, and coping tools for transitions—all areas where children with autism may benefit from structured guidance. Many families access our services through NDIS funding (2025–26 pricing arrangements), which can help make therapy more accessible. We work collaboratively with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure strategies are reinforced across all environments. Please note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose autism; however, we provide valuable support for the functional and sensory aspects once a diagnosis has been established.
