Happy Therapy Australia recognises that children with sensory processing disorder often struggle with how their bodies interpret and respond to sensory information from their environment. Our occupational therapy team works with each child to identify their specific sensory needs and develop strategies to help them engage more comfortably with daily activities. Through our sensory processing service, we use tailored interventions such as weighted equipment activities to provide calming input, sensory swing work to improve body awareness and coordination, and structured play-based activities that gradually help children become more tolerant of different textures, sounds, and movements. Happy Therapy Australia also incorporates visual supports and environmental modifications to reduce sensory overwhelm during therapy sessions and provides guidance for families to implement strategies at home. Many families access our services through NDIS funding (2025–26 arrangements), which can support occupational therapy for eligible children. We work collaboratively with families and other professionals to ensure therapy complements your child's overall support plan. It's important to note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose sensory processing disorder; however, we can support children identified by medical professionals and help them develop practical coping skills.
