Early childhood development relies on children's ability to process and respond to sensory information from their environment. Little Stepping Stones supports this foundational skill through sensory processing services tailored to each child's needs. Our occupational therapists work with children to help them develop better awareness of their body in space, improve their ability to filter out distracting sensations, and build confidence in everyday activities. At Little Stepping Stones, we use evidence-informed activities such as sensory play with different textures and materials, movement-based activities using equipment like balance beams and stepping stones, and calming strategies like weighted lap pads or deep pressure activities. These interventions help children develop the sensory foundations needed for learning, play, and social interaction. If your child may be eligible for NDIS funding in 2025-26, our team can discuss how therapy costs might be covered through your plan. While occupational therapy supports sensory development, we note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose conditions such as autism spectrum disorder or sensory processing disorder—diagnosis requires assessment by other qualified professionals. Little Stepping Stones focuses on building your child's skills and confidence regardless of diagnosis.
