Autism Support at New Ability Health — Across NSW

New Ability Health supports children with autism spectrum disorder through three interconnected service areas. Our sensory processing support helps children who experience sensitivities to sounds, textures, lights, or movement—common challenges for autistic children. We use evidence-informed strategies like sensory circuits (movement sequences), weighted equipment work, and controlled exposure to different sensory environments to help children develop better regulation and coping skills. Fine motor support addresses difficulties with handwriting, fastening buttons, using cutlery, or manipulating small objects, which many autistic children find challenging. New Ability Health's occupational therapists design tailored fine motor activities—such as threading tasks, scissor work, and hand strength exercises—that build confidence and independence in daily activities. Our autism-informed approach recognises that autistic children often learn and process information differently. We work collaboratively with families to understand each child's unique sensory profile and strengths, creating strategies that support participation at home, school, and in the community.
