Early intervention Support at Physio Inq — Across WA
Physio Inq in Across WA lists services that overlap with paediatric occupational therapy for early intervention.
Services Physio Inq offers for early intervention
Early childhood development relies on a child's ability to process and respond to sensory information from their environment. At Physio Inq, our occupational therapists support children who experience sensory processing differences through tailored activities designed to help them engage more confidently with everyday routines. Sensory processing work might include activities such as using sensory swings or weighted blankets to help children regulate their responses to movement and touch, or structured play with textured materials to build tolerance and exploration skills. We also incorporate fine motor activities—like threading, playdough work, and mark-making—that strengthen the hand skills children need for self-care and learning. These interventions can be funded through the NDIS (2025–26 funding year) if your child has an approved plan. While occupational therapy supports development across multiple areas, it's important to note that our therapists cannot diagnose conditions such as autism or sensory processing disorder; however, Physio Inq can work alongside your child's medical team to address functional goals and build skills that support participation at home, in childcare, and in the community.

About early intervention
Early childhood is a time of rapid development across play, movement, communication, self-care, and social skills. When concerns about a child's early development arise, paediatric occupational therapy is one of the allied health supports often involved.

Common questions
How do I know if my child needs sensory processing support?
Children may benefit from sensory support if they seem unusually sensitive to sounds, textures, or movement; avoid certain activities; or struggle with transitions and routines. Common signs include difficulty with self-care tasks, reluctance to play with peers, or intense reactions to everyday experiences. An initial consultation with Physio Inq can help identify whether occupational therapy might support your child's development.
Can occupational therapy diagnose sensory processing disorder or autism?
No, occupational therapists cannot diagnose these conditions—that requires assessment by a paediatrician or psychologist. However, Physio Inq can assess how sensory differences affect your child's daily functioning and work with you to develop strategies and activities that help them participate more comfortably in everyday routines and learning.
Can we access Physio Inq services through the NDIS?
If your child has an approved NDIS plan that includes occupational therapy, services may be funded under the 2025–26 funding year. We recommend checking your plan details and contacting Physio Inq directly to discuss your child's goals and how we can support you within your funding allocation.
