Early childhood is a critical period for developing sensory processing skills, which form the foundation for learning, play, and social interaction. At Physio Inq in Across, our occupational therapists support children with sensory processing difficulties through tailored activities designed to help their nervous systems respond more effectively to everyday sensations. Sensory processing work might include activities such as using sensory swings or body socks to provide calming input, engaging in fine-motor play with textured materials like kinetic sand or threading activities, and exploring movement-based games that build body awareness and coordination. These interventions help children become more confident and regulated during daily routines like mealtimes, transitions, and social play. Physio Inq recognises that early intervention can make a meaningful difference in a child's development trajectory. If your child may be eligible for NDIS funding in the 2025–26 financial year, our team can discuss how occupational therapy services might be incorporated into a support plan. Please note that occupational therapists do not diagnose conditions such as autism or sensory processing disorder; however, we work collaboratively with your child's medical team to provide evidence-based support.
