Autism Support at Physio Inq — Across VIC

Children with autism spectrum disorder often experience differences in sensory processing and fine motor development, which can impact daily activities like eating, writing, and self-care. At Physio Inq in Across, our occupational therapists work with children to build skills and confidence in these areas. For sensory processing support, we use tailored activities such as weighted blanket trials, obstacle course work, and controlled sensory experiences to help children regulate their responses to touch, sound, and movement. Fine motor interventions at Physio Inq include hand strengthening exercises, scissor skills practice, and tripod grip development through play-based activities like threading, drawing, and construction tasks. These services support children in developing independence with everyday tasks and school participation. Many families access our services through NDIS funding, which can cover occupational therapy for eligible children. Our therapists work collaboratively with families and schools to ensure strategies are practical and consistent across environments. While occupational therapists cannot diagnose autism spectrum disorder, we can identify and address functional difficulties in sensory processing and motor skills that may be present.
