Early intervention Support at SAPAN — Across SA

Early childhood development relies on a child's ability to process and respond to sensory information from their environment. At SAPAN, our occupational therapists support children with sensory processing difficulties through tailored interventions designed to help them engage more confidently with everyday activities. Sensory processing work might include activities such as using a sensory swing to help regulate movement and balance, working with weighted equipment like lap pads or vests to provide calming input, or engaging in fine-motor exercises using play-based activities like threading, playdough manipulation, and scissor skills practice. These interventions help children develop better body awareness, improve focus, and participate more fully in learning and play. SAPAN works with families to understand each child's unique sensory profile and creates strategies that can be used at home and in educational settings. If your child may be eligible for NDIS funding in 2025-26, our team can discuss how therapy costs might be covered through your plan. Please note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose conditions such as autism, ADHD, or sensory processing disorder—diagnosis requires assessment by appropriate medical professionals. However, SAPAN can identify sensory processing patterns and provide evidence-based support to help your child thrive.
