Step Ahead Occupational Therapy supports children with autism spectrum disorder through three key service areas tailored to individual needs. Sensory processing support helps children who experience sensory sensitivities or seek sensory input—our therapists may use sensory swings, weighted blankets, or textured play activities to help regulate responses to sounds, touch, and movement. Early intervention services work with younger children to build foundational skills during critical developmental periods, including structured play routines and environmental modifications that reduce anxiety. Fine motor support addresses hand strength and coordination challenges, using activities like threading beads, scissor practice, and handwriting exercises adapted to each child's ability. Step Ahead Occupational Therapy is NDIS registered, meaning many families can access funding through their child's NDIS plan to cover these services. Our therapists work collaboratively with families and other professionals to identify which areas will make the most meaningful difference in your child's daily life, whether that's managing sensory overwhelm at school, developing independence in self-care, or building confidence in social situations.
