Sensory processing Support at Thrive Children's Occupational Therapy — Across SA

Thrive Children's Occupational Therapy supports children with sensory processing difficulties through targeted interventions addressing how their nervous system processes information from their environment. Our sensory processing service helps children develop better tolerance and responses to everyday sensations—such as touch, sound, movement, and visual input—that may feel overwhelming or underwhelming. This might include activities like working with sensory swings, weighted blankets, or textured materials to help regulate their nervous system. Fine motor support complements this work, as sensory processing challenges often affect hand strength and coordination needed for writing, drawing, and self-care tasks. At Thrive Children's Occupational Therapy, we might use activities such as threading beads, playdough manipulation, or scissor work to build these skills while managing sensory input. Our therapists also teach strategies families can use at home to create sensory-friendly routines. While occupational therapists cannot diagnose sensory processing disorder, we work collaboratively with your child's medical team to support their development. Families may be able to access our services through NDIS funding (2025–26 pricing structures apply where eligible), or through private sessions.
