Early intervention Support at Wonder Kids OT — Across VIC

Early childhood is a critical period for developing sensory processing skills, which form the foundation for learning, movement, and social interaction. Wonder Kids OT supports children with sensory processing difficulties through targeted interventions designed to help their nervous systems respond appropriately to everyday sensations. Our occupational therapists use evidence-based strategies tailored to each child's unique needs. For example, we might incorporate sensory swing work to help children regulate their vestibular system and improve balance, or use weighted equipment during fine-motor activities to provide calming proprioceptive input. Visual schedules and structured sensory breaks throughout the day help children anticipate transitions and manage overwhelming stimuli. Wonder Kids OT works with families to understand how sensory sensitivities affect daily routines like mealtimes, dressing, and play. While occupational therapists cannot diagnose conditions such as autism or sensory processing disorder, we can identify sensory concerns and support development. For families accessing NDIS funding in 2025-26, early intervention services may be covered under participant plans, making professional support more accessible during these formative years.
