Autism Support at Aspirations Occupational Therapy — Across NSW

Children with autism spectrum disorder often experience differences in sensory processing and fine motor development, which can impact daily activities like self-care, play, and learning. Aspirations Occupational Therapy supports these areas through tailored interventions. Sensory processing work helps children regulate their responses to sights, sounds, textures, and movement—for example, using weighted blankets or compression vests to promote calm, or providing controlled sensory experiences like playing in a ball pit or using a therapy swing to improve body awareness. Fine motor support addresses skills needed for writing, eating, and dressing, such as practising pencil grip through fun activities, threading beads, or using adaptive utensils. Our therapists at Aspirations Occupational Therapy work collaboratively with families to identify which sensory and motor strategies work best for each child's unique needs. Many families access these services through NDIS funding (2025-26 pricing structures apply where eligible), though private sessions are also available. It's important to note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose autism; however, we can support the functional challenges that often accompany it, helping children participate more confidently in everyday routines and activities they enjoy.
