ADHD Support at Capability Support Services — Across NSW

Children with ADHD often experience challenges with attention regulation and sensory processing, which can affect their ability to focus, participate in daily activities, and manage their behaviour. Capability Support Services recognises that sensory processing difficulties frequently co-occur with attention challenges, and our occupational therapists work to address these underlying factors. Through sensory processing support, we help children develop better body awareness and self-regulation skills. For example, we might use weighted equipment during structured activities to help a child feel more grounded and focused, or incorporate movement breaks using sensory tools like therapy balls to help reset attention before learning tasks. Visual schedules and environmental modifications are also tailored to reduce sensory distractions and support sustained concentration. At Capability Support Services across NSW, we work collaboratively with families and schools to identify which sensory strategies work best for each child. Many families access our services through NDIS funding (2025-26 pricing arrangements), though we encourage you to discuss your individual circumstances with us. An occupational therapist cannot diagnose ADHD, but we can assess how sensory and motor factors may be affecting your child's participation and attention.
