Early intervention Support at Kids Matters OT — Highgate Hill, QLD

Early childhood is a critical window for development, and Kids Matters OT supports children in building foundational skills during these formative years. Fine motor development—such as grasping, hand strength, and coordination—underpins everyday activities like self-feeding, dressing, and later, writing. Our occupational therapists use targeted exercises including threading activities, playdough manipulation, and scissor practice to strengthen these skills in a play-based context. Sensory processing support helps children interpret and respond appropriately to sensory information from their environment. Kids Matters OT incorporates sensory strategies such as weighted blanket use during calm-down time, sensory swing activities to develop balance and body awareness, and tactile exploration with different textures. These interventions help children self-regulate and engage more confidently with their surroundings. Many families access our services through NDIS funding (2025–26 pricing structures apply), which can cover occupational therapy for eligible children. Our clinic-based and home programme approaches ensure skills learnt during sessions translate into daily routines.
