ADHD Support at OTS: AAAS — Across NSW
OTS: AAAS in Across NSW lists services that overlap with paediatric occupational therapy for adhd.
Services OTS: AAAS offers for adhd
Children with ADHD and attention difficulties often experience challenges with fine motor skills, which can impact handwriting, self-care tasks, and classroom participation. OTS: AAAS supports these children through targeted fine motor interventions designed to build strength, coordination, and confidence. Our occupational therapists use evidence-based activities such as precision grip exercises with tweezers and small objects to develop finger strength, scissor skills training to improve hand control, and structured handwriting programs that break down letter formation into manageable steps. These interventions help children develop the motor foundations needed for sustained attention during fine motor tasks. OTS: AAAS recognises that improved fine motor control can reduce frustration and support better engagement in learning activities. Many families access our services through NDIS funding (2025–26 arrangements), which can cover occupational therapy support for eligible children. Our therapists work collaboratively with families and schools to ensure strategies are practical and transferable to everyday environments. While occupational therapists cannot diagnose ADHD, we can assess how attention difficulties affect functional skills and provide targeted support to help children participate more effectively in daily activities.

About adhd
ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a developmental difference that affects attention, activity level, and impulse control. In Australia, ADHD is diagnosed by a paediatrician, psychiatrist, or psychologist, often after a family or school notices ongoing differences in attention, behaviour, or self-regulation across multiple settings.

Common questions
Can an occupational therapist diagnose ADHD?
No, occupational therapists cannot diagnose ADHD—this requires assessment by a medical professional such as a paediatrician or psychiatrist. However, OTs can assess how attention difficulties affect a child's fine motor skills, self-care, and participation in daily activities, and provide targeted support to address these functional challenges.
How can fine motor therapy help my child with attention difficulties?
Fine motor activities require focus and hand-eye coordination, which can help build concentration skills. At OTS: AAAS, we use engaging, purposeful activities like handwriting practice and precision tasks that encourage sustained attention while developing the motor skills needed for school and self-care tasks.
Does OTS: AAAS accept NDIS funding?
NDIS registration status for OTS: AAAS has not been confirmed. We recommend contacting the clinic directly to discuss funding options and payment arrangements. Our team can provide information about how to access occupational therapy support for your child.
