Autism Support at Roaming Therapy — Across VIC

Children with autism spectrum disorder often experience differences in how they process sensory information, which can affect their daily activities, learning, and social participation. Roaming Therapy's sensory processing support helps children develop better awareness of and responses to sensory input through tailored activities and environmental modifications. For example, our occupational therapists might use sensory swings or weighted equipment during sessions to help children regulate their nervous system and improve body awareness. Other interventions may include structured play activities that gradually introduce different textures, sounds, and movements in a controlled way, or the development of personalised sensory strategies children can use at home and school. Roaming Therapy works with families to identify which sensory experiences help each child feel calm and focused, and which ones might be overwhelming. If your child is eligible for NDIS funding in the 2025-26 financial year, occupational therapy services can often be covered under your plan. It's important to note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose autism or sensory processing differences—this requires assessment by other health professionals—but we can absolutely support your child's participation and wellbeing once a diagnosis is established.
