ADHD Support at Sensibleminds — Across NSW

Children with ADHD often experience difficulties with attention regulation and sensory processing, which can affect their ability to focus, participate in daily activities, and manage their emotions. Sensibleminds supports these challenges through tailored sensory processing interventions designed to help children develop better self-regulation and attention skills. Sensory activities like using weighted blankets or vests can help calm an overactive nervous system, whilst dynamic movement activities such as trampoline work or balance board exercises help children who need more input to stay alert and focused. Fine motor activities—including threading, scissor work, and handwriting practice—build the coordination and sustained attention needed for school tasks. Visual supports and structured routines are also incorporated to help children anticipate transitions and reduce anxiety. At Sensibleminds, occupational therapists work collaboratively with families to identify which sensory strategies work best for each child. It's important to note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose ADHD; however, they can assess how sensory processing difficulties may be contributing to attention challenges and develop strategies to support better functioning. Families may be able to access funding through the NDIS (2025-26 pricing year) to support these services, depending on their child's eligibility and plan.
