ADHD Support at Sensory Smart — Across NSW

Children with ADHD often experience sensory processing difficulties that can affect their ability to focus, regulate emotions, and participate in daily activities. Sensory Smart supports these children through tailored sensory processing interventions designed to help them better understand and respond to sensory information. Our occupational therapists work with each child to identify their sensory needs and create strategies to improve attention and self-regulation. For example, we use sensory equipment like weighted blankets and body socks to provide calming input during learning activities, helping children settle and concentrate. We also incorporate movement-based activities such as trampoline work and balance beam exercises to support vestibular and proprioceptive development, which can enhance focus and coordination. Fine-motor activities, including threading, cutting, and handwriting tasks, help build the motor skills needed for classroom participation. At Sensory Smart in Across, we work collaboratively with families and schools to embed these strategies into everyday routines. Many families access our services through NDIS funding (2025-26 pricing arrangements), which can support ongoing therapy. While occupational therapy cannot diagnose ADHD, our sensory interventions complement medical and educational support to help children thrive.
