Early childhood development relies on children's ability to process and respond to sensory information from their environment. The OT Group supports children experiencing sensory processing difficulties through targeted interventions designed to help them engage more effectively with daily activities and learning. Sensory processing therapy at The OT Group may include activities such as work with sensory swings or platforms to help children develop body awareness and balance, use of weighted equipment like lap pads or vests to provide calming input, and structured play activities that gradually expose children to different textures, sounds, and movements. These interventions help children become more comfortable with everyday experiences like getting dressed, eating different foods, or playing alongside peers. The OT Group recognises that early intervention during the preschool years can support children's participation in kindergarten and community activities. If your child may be eligible for NDIS funding in 2025-26, our team can discuss how therapy goals align with your child's support plan. While occupational therapists cannot diagnose conditions such as autism or sensory processing disorder, they can identify functional difficulties and work collaboratively with families and other professionals to support your child's development.
