Children with autism spectrum disorder often experience differences in how they process sensory information, which can affect their daily functioning, learning, and social participation. Tyack Health's sensory processing support helps children develop better awareness of and responses to sensory input through tailored activities and environmental modifications. Our occupational therapists work with children using evidence-informed strategies such as sensory diet activities (customised movement and tactile experiences throughout the day), weighted equipment use to improve body awareness and self-regulation, and structured play-based interventions in our clinic environment. For example, a child might engage with a sensory swing to develop vestibular awareness, use textured materials during fine-motor activities, or participate in graded exposure to different sensory experiences. Tyack Health recognises that sensory sensitivities vary greatly between individuals, so interventions are personalised to each child's needs and preferences. If your child is eligible for NDIS funding under the 2025–26 scheme, occupational therapy services may be covered as part of your plan. Our NDIS registration means families can access these services with appropriate funding support. We work collaboratively with families and other professionals to ensure strategies extend into home and school settings, supporting your child's participation across all environments.
