ADHD Support at Tyack Health — Across QLD
Tyack Health in Across QLD lists services that overlap with paediatric occupational therapy for adhd.
Services Tyack Health offers for adhd
Children with ADHD often experience difficulties with attention, impulse control, and sensory regulation. Tyack Health recognises that sensory processing challenges frequently co-occur with attention difficulties, and our occupational therapists work to support children by addressing their sensory needs. When sensory systems are better regulated, children often find it easier to focus and participate in daily activities. At Tyack Health, we use tailored sensory interventions such as weighted equipment activities to help calm the nervous system, movement-based exercises like obstacle courses or trampoline work to support body awareness and motor planning, and structured sensory breaks using items like fidget tools or textured materials to help children self-regulate during tasks. Our therapists also help families understand their child's sensory preferences and create environments that support better concentration at home and school. If your child is NDIS-registered, sensory processing support may be eligible for funding under the 2025-26 scheme. It's important to note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose ADHD or sensory processing disorder—diagnosis comes from medical professionals—but we can certainly support children who have received these diagnoses.

About adhd
ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a developmental difference that affects attention, activity level, and impulse control. In Australia, ADHD is diagnosed by a paediatrician, psychiatrist, or psychologist, often after a family or school notices ongoing differences in attention, behaviour, or self-regulation across multiple settings.

Common questions
Can occupational therapy help my child focus better at school?
Occupational therapists can support attention and focus by addressing underlying sensory and motor needs that may interfere with learning. At Tyack Health, we work with children to improve body awareness, self-regulation strategies, and environmental adjustments that make it easier to concentrate. However, OT is one part of a broader support approach and works best alongside school and family strategies.
How do I know if my child's attention difficulties are related to sensory processing?
Many children with attention difficulties also have sensory sensitivities—they might be distracted by sounds, struggle with certain textures, or need movement breaks. Tyack Health's occupational therapists can observe your child and discuss their sensory responses, though formal diagnosis comes from medical professionals. An initial consultation helps identify whether sensory support could help.
Is occupational therapy covered by NDIS funding?
If your child is NDIS-registered, occupational therapy services may be funded under your plan, depending on your approved supports and goals. Tyack Health is NDIS-registered, and our team can discuss your child's eligibility and how therapy costs might be covered under the 2025-26 funding arrangements during your first appointment.
