Sensory processing Support at You and Me OT — Across WA
You and Me OT in Across WA lists services that overlap with paediatric occupational therapy for sensory processing.
Services You and Me OT offers for sensory processing
Children with sensory processing difficulties often struggle with how their bodies interpret touch, movement, sound, and other sensations, which can affect their confidence and participation in daily activities. You and Me OT supports these children through two key service areas. Our sensory processing service helps children develop better awareness and tolerance of sensory input through carefully graded activities—such as using sensory swings to build vestibular confidence, working with weighted blankets or compression tools to improve body awareness, and exploring different textures during play-based sessions. Our fine motor service complements this by addressing the coordination and hand strength challenges that often accompany sensory difficulties, using activities like threading, scissor work, and pencil grip exercises tailored to each child's needs. You and Me OT recognises that sensory processing and fine motor skills are interconnected; improving one often supports progress in the other. If your child may be eligible for NDIS funding in 2025-26, our team can discuss how occupational therapy services may be incorporated into your plan. Please note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose sensory processing disorder, autism, or ADHD—these diagnoses come from medical professionals—but we can work with your child's existing diagnosis to build practical skills and confidence.

About sensory processing
Sensory Processing Disorder is the term often used by families and clinicians to describe difficulties with how a child's brain interprets and responds to sensory information. This can affect how a child manages sound, touch, movement, sights, smells, tastes, and body awareness.

Common questions
Can an occupational therapist diagnose sensory processing disorder?
No, occupational therapists cannot diagnose sensory processing disorder, autism, or ADHD. These diagnoses come from medical professionals such as paediatricians or psychologists. However, an OT can assess how sensory difficulties affect your child's daily functioning and develop strategies to help them cope and participate more comfortably in everyday activities.
How does You and Me OT tailor sensory activities to my child's specific needs?
You and Me OT begins with a detailed assessment of your child's sensory preferences and challenges. The therapist then designs individualised activities based on what your child finds calming or alerting, gradually introducing new sensory experiences at a pace your child can manage. Sessions are play-based and responsive, adjusting activities based on how your child engages.
Can I access You and Me OT through NDIS funding?
You and Me OT's NDIS registration status is not yet confirmed. We recommend contacting the clinic directly to discuss your funding options and whether occupational therapy services can be included in your NDIS plan for 2025-26. The team can guide you through available payment arrangements.
