Autism Support at KidsPoint — Across NSW

KidsPoint supports children with autism spectrum disorder through targeted occupational therapy addressing sensory processing and daily living skills. Children with autism often experience differences in how they process sensory information—some may be oversensitive to sounds or textures, whilst others seek intense sensory input. At KidsPoint, our occupational therapists use evidence-based strategies tailored to each child's sensory profile. Interventions might include sensory diet activities such as weighted blanket use during transitions, proprioceptive input through resistance exercises, or structured play with different textures to build tolerance. For children who struggle with fine motor coordination affecting writing or self-care, KidsPoint incorporates fine-motor strengthening through play-based activities like threading, scissor work, and hand-strengthening games. We also support the development of routines and visual supports to help children navigate daily transitions more smoothly. Many families access KidsPoint's services through NDIS funding, with support available under 2025-26 pricing arrangements. Our therapists work collaboratively with families and schools to ensure strategies generalise across environments. Please note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose autism; however, we provide valuable support for the sensory and functional challenges that often accompany an autism diagnosis.
