Sensory processing Support at Little Stepping Stones — Across VIC

Little Stepping Stones provides targeted sensory processing support to help children develop better awareness of and responses to sensory information in their everyday environment. Through structured sensory processing sessions, occupational therapists work with children to build tolerance, regulation, and adaptive responses to touch, movement, sound, and visual input. Common interventions at Little Stepping Stones include sensory diet activities tailored to each child's needs—such as using weighted blankets or compression vests to provide calming input—alongside movement-based work like swinging or trampolining to help develop body awareness and vestibular processing. Fine-motor activities combined with sensory exploration, such as textured play dough or water play, help children integrate sensory feedback with motor planning. The clinic also supports families in understanding their child's sensory profile and creating strategies for home and school settings. While NDIS funding may be available to eligible participants under the 2025–26 scheme, families are encouraged to discuss funding options directly with Little Stepping Stones. It's important to note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose sensory processing disorder; however, they can support children identified with sensory sensitivities through evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
