The Willow Tree Clinic recognises that children with ADHD and attention difficulties often experience challenges with sensory processing, which can significantly impact their ability to focus, regulate emotions, and participate in daily activities. Our occupational therapists work with sensory processing to help children develop better self-regulation and attention skills. Through tailored interventions, we address how children process sensory information—whether they're seeking movement input, avoiding certain textures, or struggling with auditory distractions. At The Willow Tree Clinic, we might use strategies such as weighted equipment activities to provide calming proprioceptive input, movement-based exercises like obstacle courses or balance work to help children organise their nervous system, and structured sensory breaks throughout the day to support sustained attention. These interventions help children feel more settled and ready to engage with learning and social tasks. We work with families to understand their child's sensory profile and create practical strategies for home and school environments. Families may access our services through NDIS funding (2025-26 pricing arrangements apply where eligible), private health insurance, or direct payment. Please note that occupational therapists cannot diagnose ADHD or sensory processing disorder—diagnosis requires a medical professional—but we can support children identified with these conditions through evidence-informed therapy.
